Thailand Launches Immigration App THIM for Tourists

Thailand launches THIM immigration app for tourists

Thailand’s Immigration Bureau has launched a mobile app called THIM. Foreign visitors can use it to fill out the TDAC, the digital arrival card.

What THIM Does

The app’s main job is the Thailand Digital Arrival Card, which foreign travelers must complete before entering the country. Once you submit your details, you get a QR code to show at airport immigration.

THIM works in English, Russian, Chinese and Japanese. During registration it reads the chip in your passport via NFC, checks through the camera that you’re really there, and matches your face to the photo in the document.

There’s also a section with travel tips and offers for visitors. The Bureau says more services will be added later.

Other Services

  • booking appointments at immigration offices;
  • applying for Visa On Arrival;
  • extending existing visas.

You can still fill out the TDAC on the official website or at a Thai airport after arrival. If you’ve already done it another way, you don’t need to submit a second card.

THIM can be downloaded from the App Store, Google Play and Huawei AppGallery.
