From November 10, 2026, Ryanair will close airport check-in desks and bag drop 60 minutes before scheduled departure. Now they close 40 minutes before, so the cutoff moves 20 minutes earlier. The rule will apply across the airline’s airport network.
Ryanair says the extra time is meant for security and passport control. Long queues make some passengers miss their flights, and the airline wants to cut the number of such cases.
According to Ryanair Chief Marketing Officer Dara Brady, the change will mostly affect passengers with checked baggage.
About 20% of Ryanair passengers check bags at the airport. The other 80% check in online and go straight to security, so the new deadline does not touch them.
Ryanair is also adding self-service bag drop. By October 2026, the airline plans to have kiosks at more than 95% of its airports, so checking a bag should take less time.
If you fly with checked luggage, plan to reach bag drop before the 60-minute cutoff.
