Business class from Frankfurt or Helsinki to Tokyo starts at 38,500 miles, while the usual price is 80,000 miles or more. Economy from North America to Japan starts at 18,900 miles one way.
The North American cities in the sale are New York, Chicago, Dallas, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Seattle, San Diego, and Vancouver. Boston is not on the list.
Booking Deadline and Travel Dates
All bookings must be made by October 31, 2026. Travel dates differ by destination:
- Europe and North America: Through February 28, 2027.
- Guam: Through January 31, 2027.
- Taiwan: Flights through October 31, 2026.
The sale applies only to selected award flights, and the number of discounted seats may be limited.

JAL Mileage Bank Expiration Rules
JAL Mileage Bank miles expire 36 months after you earn them. Your account must also be open for at least 60 days before you can redeem miles for award tickets.
Transferred miles can’t be moved back, and they may expire before you find a seat, so confirm availability first.
For under 40,000 miles one way, you can fly business class between Europe and Tokyo. The booking deadline is October 31, 2026.
