Etihad Rail passenger trains start running between Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Fujairah on September 30, 2026. The new Al Yalayis station in Dubai is now part of the UAE’s national rail network.
New Etihad Rail Routes
Ahead of the launch, UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan rode an Etihad Rail train from Abu Dhabi to Dubai. The Dubai station extends a passenger network that until now only ran between Abu Dhabi and Fujairah.
From September 30, trains will connect three UAE cities:
- Dubai: Al Yalayis station, next to Jumeirah Golf Estates;
- Abu Dhabi: the station in Mohamed Bin Zayed City;
- Fujairah: Madinat Al Hilal station.
There will be five trains a day in each direction between Dubai and Abu Dhabi, and the trip takes about an hour. Dubai to Fujairah takes roughly 70 minutes.
Tickets and Transfers
Fares from Dubai to Abu Dhabi start at 39 dirhams in Comfort class and 109 dirhams in Premium. Premium cars have wider seats, more legroom, and complimentary drinks and snacks.
Tickets are sold on the Etihad Rail website, in the company’s mobile app and at station machines. One QR code works for both Etihad Rail trains and Dubai public transport, including the metro, trams and buses.
Where the Dubai Station Is
A pedestrian bridge links Al Yalayis to the Jumeirah Golf Estates metro station. The station sits outside central Dubai and is closer to Al Maktoum Airport than to Dubai International.
Etihad Rail plans to expand the passenger network in stages, adding more cities and stations over time.
