Ethiopian Airlines will increase its flight frequency from Addis Ababa (ADD) to both Zanzibar (ZNZ) and Kilimanjaro (JRO) to three flights per day starting November 30, 2026.
The additional flights will give travelers more options for reaching two of Tanzania’s major tourist destinations via Ethiopian Airlines’ Addis Ababa hub.
Tanzania Introduces Mandatory Travel Insurance
Travelers visiting Tanzania should also be aware of a new mandatory travel insurance requirement that took effect on October 1, 2026.
Foreign nationals entering mainland Tanzania by air, land or sea are required to have insurance provided by the National Insurance Corporation of Tanzania (NIC). The requirement does not apply to residents of East African Community (EAC) and Southern African Development Community (SADC) member states.
The insurance costs $44 per person and is valid for up to 92 days from the date of arrival. The policy covers emergency medical treatment, medical evacuation or repatriation, and loss of luggage.
Travelers can purchase the policy before departure or at designated entry points in Tanzania. The insurance certificate can be presented in electronic or printed form.
More information and insurance applications are available on the official NIC insurance portal.
