La Costeña

La Costeña, officially known as Aerotaxis La Costeña S.A., is a regional airline situated in Managua, Nicaragua, renowned for facilitating transport to various domestic locales from its primary hub at the Augusto C. Sandino International Airport. Inaugurated in 1991 and witnessing a notable phase as a part of Grupo TACA in 1999, the airline has consistently connected various Nicaraguan destinations, ensuring seamless local travel. The airline, which was 62% acquired by Regional Airlines Holding LLC in 2019, remains a pivotal contributor to the region’s aviation sector, despite the transitions and the ebb and flow of its operational destinations.

La Costeña strategically operates its flights, ensuring a connection between Managua and several other domestic destinations, including prominent spots like Bluefields, Corn Islands, and Puerto Cabezas. Although several routes, like those to Tegucigalpa and various Nicaraguan locales, have been terminated, the airline continues to be a notable connector within its active regions, serving both locals and tourists alike.

Managing a modest fleet with a firm commitment to passenger safety and convenience, La Costeña’s aircraft consist of the robust ATR 42-320 and the versatile Cessna 208 Caravan. These planes, embodying the airline’s dedication to reliable and comfortable travel, ensure passengers experience serene journeys across the vibrant Nicaraguan skies, connecting them to the country’s diverse and enchanting destinations.
