Buraq Air

Buraq Air, officially known as El-Buraq Air Transport Inc, is a Libyan airline headquartered at Mitiga International Airport in Tripoli, Libya. Founded in 2000, Buraq Air was the first privately owned airline in Libya. It currently operates a minor international scheduled network, additional charter services, and flights in support of CHC. The airline’s name is derived from the buraq, a mythical creature in Islamic tradition.

Destinations

As of January 2021, Buraq Air serves several destinations primarily focused on charter flights to various cities in Turkey, along with scheduled flights. Its current destinations include Antalya, Bodrum, Gazipaşa, Istanbul, Izmir, and Tekirdağ in Turkey, and it maintains its base at Mitiga International Airport in Tripoli, Libya. The airline has also served various destinations that were terminated due to the Libyan Civil War, including cities in Egypt, Syria, Morocco, and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Fleet

As of January 2021, the Buraq Air fleet consists of four aircraft: one Boeing 737-400 with a passenger capacity of 122, one Boeing 737-500 with a capacity of 169, and two Boeing 737-800s, each with a capacity of 189 passengers.
