Akasa Air, a brand of SNV Aviation Private Limited, is a low-cost airline based in Mumbai, India. Founded by industry veterans Vinay Dube and Aditya Ghosh, with a significant stake held by the late investor Rakesh Jhunjhunwala, the airline began operations in August 2022. With a current fleet of 20 aircraft serving 16 destinations, the airline has ambitious plans to expand its fleet size to around 72 aircraft within 5 years, with orders for an additional 56 aircraft already placed.
Destinations
Akasa Air began its operations with service from Mumbai to Ahmedabad and has since expanded to cover 16 destinations across India, mostly involving routes from metro cities to tier-2 and tier-3 cities. It has also expressed plans to commence international flights by the end of the year.
Fleet
Akasa Air operates an all-Boeing 737 MAX fleet, with both MAX 8 and the higher-capacity MAX 200 variants. It received its first Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft in June 2022. As of July 2023, Akasa Air has 20 aircraft in service, with 56 more on order.
