Air Mali

Up

Air Mali, formerly known as Compagnie AĆ©rienne du Mali (CAM), was a Malian airline formed through a partnership between the Aga Khan Fund for Economic Development (AKFED), its subsidiary IPS, West Africa, and the government of Mali. Established in April 2005, CAM made its inaugural flight on June 7, 2005. In May 2009, the company rebranded itself as Air Mali. Its operations were primarily based at Senou International Airport in Bamako, the capital city of Mali. However, due to the Northern Mali conflict, the airline’s operations were suspended since December 2012, and as of 2015, there were no signs of resumption in its flying operations.

Flights

Before ceasing its operations, Air Mali operated both domestic and international flights. Domestically, it connected key cities within Mali, such as Bamako, Mopti, and Gao. The airline’s initial aim was to focus on Mali’s internal network.

Airplanes

At the time of its grounding in December 2012, Air Mali’s fleet consisted of three aircraft: one McDonnell Douglas MD-83, one McDonnell Douglas MD-87, and one Bombardier CRJ200. These aircraft were grounded or stored due to the unstable conditions in Mali during that time.
