African Express Airways

African Express Airways is a Somali-owned Kenyan airline, established in 1986, with its head office located at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Embakasi, Nairobi, Kenya. The airline serves as a significant connection within East Africa, primarily focusing on operations between Kenya and Somalia. Catering to both business and leisure travellers, African Express Airways operates daily departures and maintains a total of five aircraft in its fleet.


As of February 2021, African Express Airways operates services to several domestic and international destinations. In Kenya, its base is at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi. In Somalia, it serves Bosaso, Garowe, Kismayo, and Mogadishu, with a focus on Aden Adde International Airport in Mogadishu. The airline also operates flights to Hargeisa in Somaliland. In the past, the airline served various destinations including cities in Comoros, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, and Yemen.


The African Express Airways fleet, as of February 2021, comprises five aircraft: two McDonnell Douglas MD-82s, configured with 14 business-class and 134 economy-class seats; two Douglas DC-9-30s, featuring 10 business-class and 90 economy-class seats; and one Bombardier CRJ200LR, configured to accommodate 50 passengers in a single-class layout.
